Beautiful You #1 - You Have Food On Your Face

I studied beauty therapy a few years back, and have just started operating a small night time beauty therapy business from my home. As such, I thought you might like to know some of my favourite tips and tricks to looking absolutely divine!!

My first tip is a nightly face wash with mask. I really can’t go past this… and I really do notice the difference if I have been really lazy for a week. This makes my skin glow, and allows me to apply less makeup – meaning extra time to snuggle up in the warmth of bed in the morning.

I have always had particularly bad oily and pimply skin. At twelve, or thirteen, I was told I had rosacea acne - and my mom did everything she could to help me battle that severe acne. (I certainly hated her for it at the time, but I can thank her for my very limited scars now!) So, this is not for severe issues like that, but more for normal to oily skin. Actually, this wouldn’t hurt those of you with dry skin either!

1.     Wash your face in warm water with a gentle soap - I like to use goats milk soap purchased from my local Sunday markets.
2.     Dry face by lightly dabbing a face cloth over it.
This is what I look like after a fresh wash (Argh!!)
3.     Thinly apply one of the following face masks, and leave on for 10-20mins. (I rotate these too, gives my nose a treat!!) Also, store these in the fridge once made to keep them fresh - it also makes a nice pick me up in hotter months.
  1.           1/4 cup milk  + 1 banana + 1 tbsp cinnamon powder + 2 tbsp honey
  2.           1 egg yolk + 1/4 cup oats + 1/4 cup milk + 1/2 avocado
  3.           Lemon juice + tea tree oil  (this one is great if you are having a massive breakout)

I have recipe number 1 on my face.
The banana gives it a brown stain, but don't worry it washes straight off.

I also love to use Alite Face Mud Mask - I picked some up on my trip to New Zealand last year. I have found this not only great for me, but for hubby's psoriasis too!

4.     Wash off with warm water only.

5.     Soak face cloth in hot water - then place over face to help open pores. Leave on face until you feel the washer starting to cool (generally about five minutes).

6.     Lightly spray face with a tea tree oil + vinegar + lemongrass oil spray (I will put up some of my favourite homemade natural sprays and their uses soon!)

7.     Moisturize face and neck, moving hands in an upward motion

Enjoy your new found fresh face!! Sometimes I get lazy and don't do this for a week.. and I always, ALWAYS notice after a few days that I lose some of the healthy shine to my face, and usually I start breaking out again.
Fresh moisturized face - still have some redness, but it's definitely started to subside.

 Lots of love,
Chantal
